Janice has focused her 30+ year career on the design of interior environments. Benefiting from a diverse background in design, management, and leadership, Janice maintains an active role directing clients and project teams, striving to synchronize the design of space with brand recognition, work process, physical and mental wellness, and business outcome. Her passion to challenge status quo and unearth the greater relationship between global and business influences and design solutions has led to her participation in research and presentations on a variety of topics surrounding the ‘work experience.’
Her affiliation with the design profession as a whole goes well beyond the borders of Studio Hive. She served on both the local and national boards of the American Society of Interior Designers. In 2011 she was elected into ASID’s council of Fellows. She served as board member for Minnesota’s State Licensing Board for the design and engineering professions; and the InformeDesign board, a research focused website. She has also served as a delegate for the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ), a juror for local and national design competitions, and a panelist, speaker and guest critic for local Interior design programs. Janice was elected as the second Alumni President of the University of Minnesota’s College of Design Student and Alumni board. Under her leadership, the board was named the 2008 Alumni society of the year. Janice currently serves as a national board member for the University of Minnesota’s Alumni Association. The UMAA honored Janice with the prestigious Alumni Service award for her contributions to the University as a whole.
Janice continues to broaden her knowledge and expertise through ongoing education in both business and design taking courses on topics such as ethnographic research and observation, creating and executing strategy, and design thinking.
